Aron decided we ought to watch a fifth-season episode of Don Johnson procedural Nash Bridges, featuring paranoid Willie Garson, Cheech sex dreams, and Simpsons stars as ventriloquism rivals. …You heard us. You Asked EHG about citrus faves and Picard, and Sarah objected to a Law & Order: SVU retcon in her Tiny Nonac pitch. After we named our Not Quite Winners and Losers of the week, we poured you a heaping bowl of Oops! All Equalizers for Listener Game Time. She saw the perp and the victim both on the pier. The victim started talking on his cell phone. The perp suddenly went ballistic, shot him. It wasn't a robbery, Nash. He left his wallet, his jewelry, his cash, but he did take the phone. Well, it's all the money we've got. Some guy got shot for talking on his cell phone. Gee, who would want to do that?
Dave

Wow, welcome everybody to another exciting edition of Extra Extra Hot Crate, the supplemental podcast made possible by your continuing support. Thank you so much, guys It is our monthly tradition. It is time for the forcening pool. The forcening pool. And if you want to pull something in the forcening pools, check your show notes. Follow the link and throw something in. This week's forcening pool suggestion comes from Aaron with 1A Efficient. That's what I like about Aaron. Aaron, and I gotta paraphrase here, chose Nash Bridges season five, episode nine, crosstalk for the forest in the pool. Because it's not for the A plot, it's not for the C plot, and it's not for the D plot. It's the B plot we're talking about here, featuring Dan Casellanetta. that is making this foresitting pool worthy in the eyes of Aaron with 1A. So let me quickly dispense with the A, C, and D plots and guys chime in here if there's things I'm leaving out because it's just going to be a very quick sweep. The A plot, the main part of this story is conspiracy phone guy. Willie Garson, we miss him, apparently, as he mispronounces his name.
Tara
02:05
We do
Dave
02:07
What? You didn't hear it? Maybe maybe it happened. Maybe it didn't Doesn't take his meds and turns into like the Hulk version of Chuck McGill from Better Call Saul
Tara
02:16
Thank you, yes.
Sarah
02:17
Mm-hmm.
Dave
02:18
Just like, are you using your phone and I'm hearing you talk about me?
Sarah
02:18
Yep.
Dave
02:21
I better shoot you. That's basically a storyline. And his doctor is named Archer, and he's always mumbling about centaurs and stuff like this. It's very sort of baby's first mad lib mystery.
Tara
02:32
Yeah.
Dave
02:33
with s with tinfoil.
Tara
02:34
Uh-huh. So much tinfoil
Sarah
02:37
So much tin foil.
Dave
02:40
I believe that the whole plot was born out of this line, which is from when they find his fortress of tinfoil solitude.
Tara
02:51
Yes
Dave
02:51
And then he managed to escape out of like a storm cellar door or something like that.
Sarah
02:51
Mm-hmm.
Clip
02:55
Let's go out the front. We can try, but I bet she's history. You're gonna hate me for saying this, but we've been foiled
Tara
03:06
Yeah.
Sarah
03:07
Oh, Mr. Katimsky, how could you
Dave
03:12
In case I didn't explain it enough, he lives in a tinfoil apartment and I gotta say that was pretty impressive. I think
Tara
03:19
Yeah
Dave
03:20
The people who had to dress that set were both probably
Sarah
03:20
Yeah
Dave
03:24
uh goofy at the end of that process because it probably took four hours just Sheets of aluminfoil, sheets of aluminfoil wrapping it around every little thing.
Tara
03:33
Mm-hmm
Dave
03:33
Table legs, like the whole scene with silver.
Tara
03:35
Yeah. I also have to add this show is set in and clearly shot in San Francisco. The person
Sarah
03:43
Mm -hmm.
Tara
03:43
I'm gonna guess who's on disability for his mental illness. afforded a place in San Francisco that's is as gigantic as his apartment when we see it.
Sarah
03:54
My notes were like, Oh, recreating the sixties Warhol factory. With tinfoil, but that pretty much came about because that whole like Velvet Underground superstar attachnicks to Warhol were like all on speed.
Tara
04:09
Mm-hmm.
Sarah
04:09
all the time and didn't sleep and it was just Billy
Tara
04:10
Yeah.
Sarah
04:12
name and sixteen rolls of Reynolds ramp
Tara
04:15
Sure.
Dave
04:15
So that's the A plot. The C plot is Nash's partner Joe, that's Cheech Marin there, is having sex streams about Nash's girlfriend, Caitlin Cross, by the way, airport book name.
Tara
04:26
Totally.
Sarah
04:27
Mm-hmm
Dave
04:27
Played by Yeah, the mean belief.
Tara
04:29
Mm-hmm.
Dave
04:31
And there's not much reason why this exists, except it's a very long walk for one homoerotic joke that flops on the dock when John Donson delivers So that's the C plot. it.
Tara
04:41
Mm-hmm. Yeah, basically.
Sarah
04:43
When Don Johnson delivered it due.
Dave
04:46
And the D plot is I have no idea what's going on here with the bartender Evan, and Aaron
Tara
04:52
Yeah.
Dave
04:53
also doesn't know. I If you're a big bridger if you're a big bridger, then perhaps you understand what's going on here. It really feels like maybe he got a couple pages of a script from a cancelled rescue me episode or something like that they're trying to stick in there.
Tara
05:06
Yeah
Sarah
05:07
Mm-hmm.
Dave
05:08
very different vibes from the rest of this episode.
Tara
05:10
Yeah, I I just assumed this was what passes for a continuing
Dave
05:11
So doesn't matter.
Tara
05:15
story arc on this show and like I don't know who this guy is, don't care
Dave
05:17
Yeah. You're a bad bartender. No, I'm not. I'm good. No, you're bad. Oh yeah, well, I'm leaving. That was that's maybe basically
Sarah
05:26
And I've taken this beer with me, Crunch.
Dave
05:27
it Yeah.
Sarah
05:29
Except I'm not. Fuck you
Dave
05:32
Alright, here's what's going on in the B-plot, guys. Nash and Joe, his partner, are responding to a call about harassment from this character, Eddie Day, played by Dan. We'll let Eddie explain what's going on here.
Clip
05:46
Okay, uh so uh you want to fill us in? Uh I understand you're being harassed. Well I'm not the one being harassed. It's Doodley. Doodley? Oh no, no, no, no, that's my son Eddie Jr. Doodley 's my partner, Doodley Day Hey Num Nuts, bring him back here. He's back there. Doodley? Say hello. Oh, hello. So these are the private dicks, huh? So the dummy is the one being harassed. No, no. Shh, vent figure. We never use the term dummy. Vent figure. Yeah. Although after meeting you two, we might start. Doodley Be polite. That's a kid. These men are off-duty police officers. You know, I wanted to be a cop myself once, but I decided to finish high school You know, I guess there's just been a misunderstanding. So, you know what? We'll just be going. No, no, please. Look, look. I I I know what this must seem like, but you gotta help me
Dave
06:45
So Nash is immediately over everything that has happened because of course he is, but Joe is enjoying the vibes that That Nash is giving off being so pissed off. He's egging Nash on as we hear this.
Clip
06:59
Please let me play you the tape. Oh. Well just let's hear the tape. Come on. I have to play it low. I don't want him upset. Mm-hmm. This is Happy! Remember me? I'm warning you, Eddie. Forget Vegas or Doodley Day will be doodly dead. That's the third message I've gotten from Happy in the past 24 hours. Uh, who's happy? He's my former partner. Happy and Eddie? I uh see? I'm sure you heard of us
Dave
07:26
I'm sure you have. So Doodley, if I may paint a quick picture, is his ventriloquist dummy is a very 90s Vegas bro
Tara
07:37
Yeah.
Dave
07:37
look here. Platinum blonde highlights, soul patch, gold chains.
Sarah
07:40
Yeah.
Tara
07:41
Yes, imagine Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray
Dave
07:45
Yeah.
Tara
07:46
in vent figure form. That's Doodley.
Dave
07:48
Yep, exactly. So our First stop is to Eddie's former affair partner, Stevie, played here by fellow uh Simpsons alum, Yardley Smith, or Smithly Yarding. It starts and ends absolutely nowhere important to the plot or our entertainment, unless a dummy coming on to Don Johnson really boils your potatoes.
Sarah
08:10
Oh
Dave
08:11
And somewhere along the way
Sarah
08:12
cursed sentence
Dave
08:14
The capper to this is yes, I know. The capper to this is somewhere along the way they also decided For some reason that this character needed to have a stutter as an affectation that absolutely has no reason to be there and also is not natural enough to be like, we're all into this together, so it's a very sour spot for this character note The next development as they antee up is Doodley has a close call with a would-be assailant in his own home, complete with like classic cutout lettering ransom note.
Clip
08:47
Someone broke into the house last night and shredded Doodley's wardrobe. If he hadn't been upstairs sleeping with Kathy and me, he might have been completely destroyed. Hmm, he was sleeping with you in the same bed. Your point is? No point.
Dave
09:02
Learning a lot about
Sarah
09:03
Yeah, I'll say.
Dave
09:04
Red Troloquest today. So working the main case in the A plot, Joe and Nash get a call.
Clip
09:17
The thing is, yeah. Okay, we're on our way. We got another dead body. Oh man. Well I came out to swim laps and there he was. I thought we should wait for you to pull him out. I don't know whether to call the corner or the Department of Forestry. Oh my god! He's been decapitated. Dad, it's okay. No, it's not.
Dave
09:45
So that was Eddie Jr. 's voice there, and I was like, who the fuck is this kid? Why is his very adult face here at the tender age of, I don't know, nine, ten? Why is this so familiar? And I was like, oh shit, it's the cop from the most recent episode of Reacher, the the sort of the uh small town cop guy, looking exactly the same as he does here in this episode of Nash Bridges.
Tara
10:02
Mm-hmm. Yeah. Which is to say, like John Cusack, his Hollywood Gene Project progenitor.
Dave
10:13
Yeah.
Sarah
10:13
Mm-hmm.
Tara
10:13
Mm-hmm.
Dave
10:14
So that was Eddie Jr. 's voice there, the son who discovered poor Doodley's headless body in the pool. And he stomps off after his dad seems to care more about the dummy than him, so you know where this is going, especially if you track the ransom note earlier was made from comic book covered letters. And then later that day, after wrapping up the main case, the guy who's shooting people, they're making time out of their busy day to keep on going back to the ventriloquist to figure out his harassment case with other ventriloquist dummies, while some guys are shooting people all over San Francisco. Anyways, later that day after wrapping up the main case, Nash pulls a fast one on Eddie Jr. pretending to have found the missing dummy head, and that makes Eddie Jr. go to his secret hidden dummy head spot, and he is busted. The episode ends with Nash shooting Eddie Jr. in the head, the end No, that doesn't happen. I wish.
Sarah
11:10
Wow
Dave
11:10
After the reveal, I'm like, hang on a sec. Rup rub rub rub rub rub rub. The one thing they forgot to do about this I mean it's a stupid case. It's a stupid show. I don't believe I'm actually saying this, but the one thing I was mad about from a how dare you insult my intelligence standpoint
Tara
11:26
Yes.
Dave
11:26
was is obviously Dan Castellanetta doing all the ransom phone calls
Tara
11:31
Yeah.
Dave
11:31
It's not the kid. That is not a kid's voice, even
Tara
11:33
Right.
Dave
11:34
trying to do a high-pitched ventraliquid stubby voice. You can tell.
Tara
11:38
Yes.
Dave
11:39
So that was a that was a that was a boner move
Tara
11:42
I
Dave
11:43
on the Nash Bridges.
Tara
11:43
yes. I also was waiting for a reveal that like, oh the kid learned the voice and they
Dave
11:48
Yeah.
Tara
11:48
forgot that part.
Dave
11:49
Right.
Tara
11:49
I agree.
Dave
11:50
Yeah.
Tara
11:50
Sloppy
Dave
11:51
So that is the ventriloquist dummy murder case from Nash Bridges season five, episode nine, crosstalk. This is a show that I've known about forever. This is the first time I've ever watched an episode. My main exposure to Nash Bridges before this is that when me and Tara
Sarah
12:05
Same
Dave
12:10
used to live and work in Los Angeles At lunch we would go to the Prebica Cafe in s in uh Marina Del Rey, and that was a haunt for the Nashbridge's writing staff to go over their show notes. And a lot of the times we'd be eating there next door There were people talking about these episodes. It could have been this episode. They could have been talking about this. It could have been the guy who created this, whose name I forget, Carlton Cruz.
Tara
12:33
Carlton Qs, mm-hmm.
Dave
12:37
Going on a nice long queue with your parents.
Tara
12:41
I had to look it up and see where this aired because I couldn't remember. It is so USAcoded, but it was a network procedural.
Sarah
12:46
Yes, mm-hmm, C
Dave
12:47
CBS, right?
Tara
12:47
It was on CBS.
Dave
12:48
Yeah, yeah.
Tara
12:48
Yeah.
Sarah
12:49
B S
Tara
12:50
Crazy.
Dave
12:50
The credits, the song, everything about that is so trapped in amber.
Tara
12:55
Oh yeah.
Dave
12:55
Including
Sarah
12:56
Oh God.
Dave
12:57
um is the actor Jeff Perry?
Tara
12:59
Yes, yes
Dave
12:59
Is that right?
Sarah
13:00
Yes.
Dave
13:00
Jeff Perry's I don't know what the hell's going on here, Rasta Jimmy Buffet look.
Tara
13:05
Buffet
Sarah
13:06
Jimmy Buffet
Dave
13:07
It looks like he's eating everything, guys.
Tara
13:08
Yes.
Sarah
13:08
Marfa
Tara
13:10
Yeah, I had notes about all of his styling as well.
Dave
13:13
Whew Okay, go go over it, please.
Tara
13:15
Okay, first of all, when you first see him, he's wearing like a little, you know, beret, like a guardian angel style
Sarah
13:20
AjΓ‘, mhm
Tara
13:22
beret. And then when you see him back at the extremely self-consciously designed cop shop, which as Dave said in his intro
Sarah
13:30
Mm
Tara
13:31
is in an old cannery, like
Dave
13:32
Or something like that, I don't know what
Sarah
13:32
-hmm.
Dave
13:33
it's some some some yeah, dock-based industry.
Tara
13:35
Sump something with lots of beams.
Dave
13:38
Yeah, curved beams, rust, mm-hmm
Tara
13:39
Yeah. When he has his hat off, 'cause he's inside, you see he's got like a sort of the c I'll call it the coward's mullet. Like it's it's
Sarah
13:48
Mm-hmm.
Tara
13:48
it is. shorter on the sides and top than the back, but it's like not that much longer, so it's
Dave
13:51
Yeah He's here to cop party.
Tara
13:55
Yeah, yes.
Dave
13:56
Can't party too hardy.
Sarah
13:56
Yeah
Tara
13:57
And then in another scene, he's got an armband on his blazer.
Sarah
14:01
With a steal
Dave
14:01
Uh huh.
Sarah
14:02
your face
Tara
14:03
Yes.
Dave
14:03
With a what
Sarah
14:05
The Steal Your Face, the Grateful Dead skull
Dave
14:06
Yeah, oh okay. I knew it was Grateful Dead. I didn't know what you're talking about. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tara
14:09
Yeah
Dave
14:10
Uh I first I saw the armband. I thought, okay, he's like always sort of undercover playing clothes, except he
Tara
14:16
Right.
Dave
14:16
Pulls out an official cop arm badge when he has to like deal with the public and then you get closer. It's like is that the fucking Grateful Dead logo
Tara
14:24
Yeah.
Dave
14:24
Fucking hell it is. What is going on here? How has this guy just not been decked or shot just because there's this like
Tara
14:26
Mm hmm.
Dave
14:30
guy walking towards you with a gun with a grateful dead RP?
Tara
14:35
Mm-hmm.
Dave
14:36
Yay!
Sarah
14:37
Just unalloyed still Chicago accent on Perry too, and you know, co-founder of the Steppenwolf Theater. Like, we love him, we're glad he got a paycheck, but I had no idea.
Tara
14:46
Of course
Sarah
14:48
he was on this. I I was like pleased at how I didn't hate it. Like I never need to watch it again, but I've been conflating this and Walker Texas Ranger since
Tara
14:54
,
Sarah
15:00
for thirty years, so I was glad that it A
Tara
15:01
Yes.
Sarah
15:03
was not that. And B, there were a couple of good jokes like Lying Son of a Birch was pretty good. Like all the wood jokes that they had been saving up We're I mean it's you know
Tara
15:13
Yep
Sarah
15:14
corny, but it was funny. Willie Garson shoots like a lot of people.
Tara
15:19
So many people.
Dave
15:20
A lot
Sarah
15:20
San Francisco is not that populous
Dave
15:20
of people
Tara
15:23
Mm-hmm. They try to sort of paper over that by the second guy he shoots is a bad guy. He's like a known
Sarah
15:29
Mm-hmm.
Tara
15:30
but it the his badness is he sells stolen cell phones.
Dave
15:34
How dare he!
Tara
15:34
Like that's
Sarah
15:34
Mm-hmm.
Dave
15:35
This murder
Sarah
15:35
Yeah.
Dave
15:36
sponsored by Verizon.
Tara
15:37
Exactly
Dave
15:38
Sorry, wait, no. This murder sponsored by Singular
Sarah
15:42
Yeah.
Tara
15:42
Yeah, it's very nineteen ninety-nine in that the you know the the A plot as we heard in the clip is It's like, oh, you got mad at someone for a guy got shot for talking on his cell phone. Gee, who'd want to do that? Like, we all agree here in 1999. that people
Sarah
15:57
Mm-hmm
Tara
15:57
talking on their cell phones in public is obnoxious, like, oh guys, you
Sarah
16:01
Yeah.
Tara
16:01
you have no idea how much worse.
Sarah
16:02
Enjoy in enjoy your lives.
Tara
16:05
Mm-hmm.
Dave
16:05
Yeah.
Tara
16:06
Yep.
Dave
16:07
So that's basically the episode. Just the uh the audacity of this uh murder of this dummy and all the things they go through, the backstory of his rival Lucky and all this. It was just a really weird trip.
Tara
16:20
Yeah.
Dave
16:21
Yeah.
Sarah
16:21
Yeah. Uh do we want to do the chen check-in
Dave
16:25
No.
Sarah
16:25
or okay. Great.
Dave
16:32
Chen Chakan, do you want to continue with ASCIIissue?
Tara
16:36
Yes.
Sarah
16:37
Yes, yes, but
Dave
16:41
Alright, it is time for Ask Eashie, everybody's favorite ask and answer segment in the universe Alright, let's get into it. Let's spiel the woo the spiel the wheel of judgment to see who's going to be dealing with last week's Ask Ask E-H-G. It's Bunsey, Bunsey. What do we got?
Sarah
17:18
We have a question from Damon who asked or announced, you are forced to perform on the gong show, What's Your Talent? Lots of good answers here. Some runner-ups include Seth playing Dance Dance Revolution on top difficulty while eating a circus peanut every 15 seconds. Elon's talent is digressing and then there was like another answer below that in parentheses, which I I see you, Elon. Well done. Regular human SJreenact my Black History Monty presentation. It's Black History Month, but I just love that typo, so I'm leaving it. In which I used two of my Cabbage Patch kids to do a faux lifestyles of the rich and famous. One was Robin Leach, and he was interviewing Marian Anderson. I did the Robin Leach voice and everything, but I didn't know the concept of ventriloquism, so I just blatantly gave voice to the dolls, and probably made accompanying faces, in front of my elementary school. I hope video of that exists. But our winners are Twain, because they did a little bit in the thread on Discord. Cleggy said, elaborate color guard routine. And Fleen said, I read this quickly and did a double take. Thought you said an elaborate colo guard routine. And then Cleggy came back with poop in a box to the tune of Dick in a box.
Tara
18:43
Mm-hmm.
Sarah
18:43
So um Both of you get stickers because I also did that Colo Guard thing and was like, how exactly do you do that? So uh great minds think alike, so do ours and both your minds, Cleggy and Fleen should contact Dave on Discord to get your stickers. Thanks, guys.
Dave
19:03
Don't tell me how you actually do it, but I just imagine you open up the box and it's a classic open box and then you just squat over it and shit into the box and seal it up and send it on its way.
Sarah
19:12
Uh-huh.
Dave
19:13
Great.
Sarah
19:13
Light it on fire too for extra points.
Tara
19:15
Mm-hmm.
Dave
19:16
All right, let's get into your questions for us NSfinch. If America started doing New Year's specials the way the UK does Christmas specials, what show should get a special and what would happen in that episode? That is the question tower.
Tara
19:28
I'm gonna go with the Gilded Age, and I don't know why this has to be a New Year's special. It just seems to me like America does Christmas as well. So I missed I skipped that part of the brief because I
Dave
19:39
Okay, you don't have to overqualify it.
Tara
19:41
Alright. In the Gilded Age Christmas special, Bertha schemes to host the most epic Christmas ball the neighborhood has ever seen. Ada is hurt when Agnes re-gifts the shawl Ada gave Agnes two years earlier and servants do secret Santa, but since it's the past it's called uh clandestine Kringle. Sarah.
Sarah
20:00
Clandestine Kringle Lee Raybon finds an old New Year's Eve party invitation stashed in a book in his shop on the lowdown, scribbled on the back as a set of Coordinates that corresponds to a long ago unsolved New Year's Eve crime in the Tulsa Greater Metro, so of course Lee starts poking around where he shouldn't, and champagne-soaked hijinks ensue. P. S. something like this happening is literally my dream as a bookstore owner and acquirer.
Tara
20:27
I'm sure
Sarah
20:29
But anyway, Dave.
Dave
20:30
I'm gonna go with Poker Face. Ryan Johnson makes a one-time AIusing exception to kill off AIentrepreneur Natasha Leon.
Tara
20:38
Yes
Dave
20:40
And relaunch the show with the New Year's Eve special with new Normo Detective played by Scott Asid from 30 Rock.
Tara
20:47
Yes
Dave
20:48
Mill snack, what is your favorite citrus or citrus flavored thing? Sarah.
Sarah
20:53
I could not choose between my beloved creamsicles and polar seltzer blueberry lemonade. Also, I couldn't take fresca because Tara is here. Dave.
Dave
21:03
Hmm. Big fan of citrus here. Love citrus. Hard to pick just one thing, so I went to basics, just like what citrus do I enjoy eating the most as a piece of citrus. So I'm gonna go with a ripe ruby grapefruit.
Sarah
21:15
Hm, good
Dave
21:15
Even though day to day, if
Sarah
21:16
choice.
Dave
21:17
I gun to my head, what citrus survives and all others die is lime. So
Sarah
21:21
Huh.
Dave
21:21
just
Tara
21:21
Mm-hmm.
Dave
21:21
want to put that out there. Tara.
Sarah
21:23
All right.
Tara
21:23
Yeah, I did not go with fresca. I went with fresh limeade, nice
Sarah
21:28
Mm
Tara
21:28
crisp. Cool Tahitian limeade, delicious, or pink lemonade. Honestly any kind. I'm not fussy about pink lemonade.
Dave
21:36
Question from P. Hoggy. Did Dave ever watch Picard Season 3? I have not. I d have no compulsion to do so. I really hated Picard season one and what I got into on season two, which wasn't very far, and I realized season three is like the next gen reunion, but even then I didn't really hear great things about it from people outside of the I really like seeing all of them together again, one more time crowd, which, you know, if that float you floated your boat, great, but wasn't enough for me. To bother checking out and I never will. That is the Dave T Cole promise. Raphael, what was the first show that you both liked that made you think ah ha this person is my kind of person? Tara
Tara
22:19
With Dave the Simpsons, that was Watching The Simpsons together was a mainstay of our early dating time. And with Sarah, I guess nine or two and oh since it's how we met on uh
Dave
22:29
Yeah.
Sarah
22:30
Yeah
Tara
22:30
the media rum boards.
Sarah
22:31
,
Tara
22:32
So
Dave
22:32
Yeah.
Tara
22:32
Dave.
Sarah
22:32
yeah
Dave
22:33
I would probably add X files to the Simpsons. I mean it was part of the same block, but we was sort of hang out for that whole thing.
Tara
22:37
It was, yes.
Sarah
22:38
Is it
Dave
22:40
And uh, you know, me and me and Sarah barely tolerated each other, so I don't have an answer for that pairing. Sarah
Sarah
22:45
Yeah, Dave doesn't own a TV, guys.
Dave
22:47
Yep.
Sarah
22:48
Come on. Yeah, I answered this for my legal spouse, dateline, and that Dan had the right attitude towards it. Respect for various hosts, low pH mockery of the rest. It was obviously important that uh any life partner share my exasperated fondness for that genre, but yeah, for Tara Niner Two and O Dawson's Double trouble, I don't know.
Dave
23:13
Dan Casino, sure, Gatsby. That is the title of a TV show if you've been paying attention. is a terrible idea for a police procedural. But what book from Sophomore Lit would make for a better police procedural or oneza?
Tara
23:27
Yeah, I had to look that up.
Dave
23:29
Me too.
Sarah
23:29
Me too.
Tara
23:31
So many shows are based around a high concept, still reading from the entry here. A simple intriguing premise that can be explained in one or two sentences, like one's an X, one's a Y, together they objective Z So, Sarah, what is your answer?
Sarah
23:45
I went with the Tale of Two Cities, shifting focus to the wrongful conviction aspect without losing the dead drops aspect of the original. Madame Defarge's knitting basket. Key. key in that and it becomes, you know, Le Projet de l'Innacles. Use different IP.i'm not a crackpot. Tara.
Tara
24:04
Scout Finch is Make'em, Alabama's only ethical detective in To Arrest a Mockingbird.
Dave
24:11
Nice. El Beth, what is one of your autumn or winter comfort food dinners? Well, chili, although that's sort of a year-round thing, but it definitely pops up more in winter. I was looking through my recipe book because I was like, surely there's something else. And then I forgot The tortilla soup. Tortilla soup season's coming back, Tara.
Tara
24:27
Oh yes!
Dave
24:28
Oh, that fucking tortilla soup.
Sarah
24:28
Oh yeah.
Tara
24:29
Mm, mm-hmm.
Dave
24:30
Fucking great.
Tara
24:30
Yeah, it's really good.
Dave
24:30
Mmm.
Sarah
24:31
Hmm.
Dave
24:31
Tastes terrific. Uh Sarah, what do you got?
Sarah
24:34
Pizotto, that is a risotto uh with canned peas in it and shrimp, and then buttered rolls on the side.
Tara
24:42
Uh yeah, Dave's chilly. Not close.
Dave
24:44
These chilies good.
Tara
24:46
Mm-hmm.
Dave
24:46
And then the new innovation that we thought of, which is my Michili gets worse and worse for our use. It's a pretty healthy dish until we're like Well we have these other things, so let's try to incorporate it. So, you know, you can have chili, you can add cheese, of course, and then, you know, whatever, some sort of starch to it if you want to, you know, dip, and that makes it increasingly less good for you. And sometimes we would do the skyline chili variant where we would put spaghetti on the base of it and put some chili on top. And then recently I've been making this queso I've been talking about here and there on the show. And especially now that the Gilded Age viewing powers are back, I usually make queso for that and there's about ten times as much queso as we need for the party. It sits in the fridge, lasts a long time. Bust that out, put it under chili. Then the innovation I thought of this week, which is, oh my God, sometimes we also make queso mac and cheese. Which is super bad for you.
Tara
25:38
Oh my god, so good
Dave
25:39
But if that was the base of the Skyline
Tara
25:39
though.
Dave
25:41
chili thing instead of spaghetti, you put queso mac and cheese and then your chili on top.
Tara
25:45
Mm-hmm.
Dave
25:46
Instant heart attack, instant everything bad for you, but it's gonna be fucking delicious, and I can't wait.
Tara
25:51
Yeah
Dave
25:52
Alright, let's do it, Sarah D bunting, let's close that food portal.
Clip
25:56
Enough!
Sarah
25:56
Yeah
Clip
25:56
I'm so sick and tired of hearing you people talk about food, food, food
Dave
26:00
All right, it's time for your ask ask e hg question to answer, dear listeners. You can go to our Discord Ask Ask EHGthread Or just go to the page for this episode. You can pop your answer in there. This week's question comes from me. I am asking, what is Clock Twink's new food mixer-based name? So he's moved on from clocks.
Tara
26:20
Yeah.
Dave
26:21
He's now doing mixmasters sort of stuff. I want to know what his new name is for the people watching The Gilded Age. That is your assignment. Let's hear your answers. We'll be back next week with judgment Oh no! It's backwards and faster and higher pitched. That can only mean one thing. It is time for a tiny no-nack presenting this week. It is tiny Sarah D. Bunting.
Sarah
26:46
Oh yes. Buckle up folks, because it's not just Bunsey rant time. It is recycled Bunsey rant time, but I am still mad about this I'm not exactly sure where to begin with today's presentation in which I despair of the RETCON, the Law and Order Special Victims Unit Writers. Applied to the relationship of Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler in the sixteenth season finale For context, this episode, Surrendering Noah, is the one in which the last obstacle to live, Mirzhka Harkate, adopting her son Noah, is subtracted via a suicide-by-cop shootout in the courtroom. that leaves Noah's biological father, drug dealer Johnny D, dead, and Liv's then partner, Nick Omaro, Danny Pino, seriously enough wounded that he decides to retire with a three quarters pension and move to California. Also, we've heard earlier in the episode, Amaro's history of, well, stabler-esque anger management issues and bad shootings mean the NYPD isn't going to promote him ever. LOL, the real NYPD would give a guy like that a fucking parade, but that's not the issue with the morrow's departure which is in many ways the culmination of several seasons of willful cluelessness on the show's part as to what had made it watchable in the past. It was not the Liv Benson crusading mom vibe. It was not her odyssey through the family court system en route to adopting Noah or any other goddamn thing involving that kid. It was not the narrative case of shingles that was the William Lewis case. And it certainly was not the rewriting of history in this farewell to a morrow scene that reduced Stabler to a neurotic obstacle to Liv's development as a cop and person. And reduced live to a junior counselor at fucking cop camp, apparently. Clip one
Clip
28:43
Well, I know I wasn't what your old partner was for you. No, you weren't. I grew more in my last four years with you than I did in the twelve years that I was with him, you know, that relationship, whatever it was. Didn't allow for anything else. But with you, with your support, I have a family. Yes, you do. You help me grow. I appreciate you saying that. Wow, so. Whatever happens, take a morrow. Friends for life. Friends for life
Sarah
29:42
I really wish I could put this obnoxious dismissal of Stabler, who is not even named in the scene, down to writing designed to let these actors say goodbye to each other, and on that level there is some sweetness to this moment Apparently Marhar Superstar and Danny Pino are buds off screen to this day, but I can't. Everything about this is enraging. As I wrote in mostly all caps in previously dot TV the day after this aired, quote. This makes no goddamn sense at all. I get that we couldn't see Stabler put in his papers on screen for whatever reason. It's fine if Liv was bent about that at the time. That was early season thirteen. Would they really not still know each other in this universe, even if it's off screen? After all the time she bailed his kids out of whatever stupid fix and practically delivered Stablerette number five after that car crash? What's with the implication that their toxic attachment stunted her personal life? Because I'm pretty sure it was her own compulsive need to stay tied emotionally to her shitty alcoholic mother and rapist father long after they had both died that prevented her from having a traditional home life, not Elliot, and even if Elliot is the worst, most out-of-control detective at Manhattan SVU.amara was also terrible for 95 % of his tenure on the show, Am
Tara
31:00
Yeah
Sarah
31:01
I Taking Crazy Pills? End quote. Plots have twisted in the decade plus since this aired. Stabler return to the Law and Order verse, of course. I think something maybe happened between the old partners romantically, but I didn't watch organized crime. I don't care to know. I do know this scene infantilizes Benson, disrespects the peak era of the show that Stabler epitomized, fails to acknowledge that Amara was very literally intended as a Stabler replacement in every sense, and had mostly failed in that regard. and is, like the show usually was in the Amaro slash barba era, confoundingly corny and tone deaf. I hated this instantly, I still do, and I'm putting in its papers for a permanent transfer to the extra extra hot crate. Tiny no neck
Tara
31:46
Thank you, Sarah. Dave is the person with l the least amount of context for this. Why don't you go first?
Dave
31:52
Yeah. Okay. I like your righteous indignation about this, Sarah D. Bunting. I don't really fully understand what's going on here because I don't watch a lot in order, but I understand the rage. When you have somebody who's not on a show and you sort of just write them out, I always wonder if they just got a writer who was new. and just didn't know the history and just like made something up that made sense for the story as it lived in s this little bubble And then that was it, nobody cared enough to like pull out the dust deep show bible, open it up and show them what they had to work around I don't know if that's the case here. I got a feeling everything to do with this production is a giant churning mill of talent. So it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case. But At the very least, the actors should have known, I would imagine, taking care of their characters. To do something like that where just somebody doesn't exist anymore and then add insult to injury. their worth has been transferred to somebody we hate because they're new.
Tara
32:56
Yeah.
Dave
32:56
That's like a real rub. And that's like
Tara
32:58
Mm-hmm.
Dave
32:59
even if you don't watch Law and Order, just like transfer this conceit to a show that you enjoy at a comfort level, you know, whether it be Reacher or something like that.
Tara
33:09
Mm-hmm.
Dave
33:09
And like Reacher's y always being helped by the clowns at the circus and the clowns at the circus always get him the information and guns he needs.
Tara
33:17
Yeah.
Dave
33:17
You're like, No, that's the people from the army base that do that. And you're like, No, it's always been the clowns. Like, what the fuck's going on?
Tara
33:24
Yeah.
Dave
33:25
So that is basically that. By the way, while we're on Reacher, just because I got nowhere to stick it in. For some reason I felt compelled to read a Reacher book for the first time a couple days ago, because I got sick of the book I was reading. And the book is exactly like the TV show. Like it might as well just have been a script for the TV show. I know that it's not like, you know, elevated writing or anything like that, but it's very It's it's cracked very well for what it is. Anyways, the new one, which just came out, I swear to God, all it is is Reacher eating breakfast and shooting tech bros in the head. That's all this episode that's all this story is. So look forward to that one if they ever shoot it for TV. But it really just is. Mmm, sausages. Blam blam in the head, Reacher.
Sarah
34:06
Eggs and headshots, yeah
Dave
34:07
Yeah. Alright, so I agree with everything you're putting down here, Sarah, even if I don't appreciate fully the law and order eschatosity of it.
Tara
34:16
I love um breakf
Sarah
34:17
Thank you.
Tara
34:18
breakfasts.
Dave
34:19
Yeah.
Tara
34:19
That's what we're calling them from now on.
Dave
34:20
Yeah. Well you have to understand it's a series of breakfastsies.
Tara
34:23
Yes, of course.
Dave
34:24
Yeah, okay.
Tara
34:25
Uh there's a there's a right way and a wrong way to do this when you just want to change course. And it's easier in something like, for example, Fraser, where they had to address In Cheers, Fraser's father was an eminent psychiatrist and he had no who had died and he had no siblings to uh so that when Ted Danson finally guest starred on Fraser for the first time as Sam He had to say, like, oh, he told us this and that, and it's a joke. Like the, you know, that way it works because it's like Fraser was embarrassed by his family for whatever reason.
Dave
34:52
Yeah. Or in frisky dingo where they want to change course and somebody actually just takes retcon
Tara
35:01
Yeah.
Dave
35:03
pills.
Tara
35:03
Yeah.
Dave
35:03
Yeah.
Sarah
35:04
Yeah.
Tara
35:05
Yes.
Sarah
35:06
Yeah
Tara
35:07
And there's a bad way to do this exit story, which we just talked about this week on our sister podcast again with them in terms of when uh Brandon left 90210 and they had a whole like to Dave's point presumably a writer who was not around at the time being like, and then I did this and that on my first day at West Beverly, and we the viewers like, No, you didn't. We watched you on that day.
Sarah
35:29
Yeah. Uh uh
Tara
35:31
In the pilot. So this to me is this is the version that's closer to the latter. Like it's the idea that Olivia Benson grew from being partnered with Omaro, like us ch Total who cares or of a character when he wasn't actively irritating is one problem. And then the other where she's implying that like Elliot held her back somehow, like, how? Ha uh what what about Elliot Stabler would have ever made anyone think he wouldn't support her having a child? Having children is his whole thing, other than punching perps or whatever.
Dave
36:07
Having children and then protecting the children from everything in the world is his deal.
Sarah
36:08
Yeah.
Tara
36:11
R yes, yes.
Dave
36:11
Yes.
Tara
36:13
Or getting his stupid children out of trouble they get themselves into by being stupid and annoying also
Dave
36:18
But okay, so Benson adopts this kid, right, Noah?
Tara
36:21
Yeah.
Dave
36:22
And do we ever like s is he mentioned or I meant okay, I'm I gotta predict that somebody kidnapped him at some point and so everybody can take it.
Sarah
36:30
Oh yeah, Brooke Shields, as a matter of fact, spoiler.
Dave
36:34
Besides that very obvious storyline, like, do they ever sort of address the fact that she is now running the precinct and has no time to actually raise a child, probably?
Sarah
36:43
Oh yeah, uh
Dave
36:44
Okay. Do they show the kid at home just like eating dry cereal and that kind of stuff?
Sarah
36:45
huh. I mean sometimes it's his babysitter
Dave
36:51
Yeah.
Sarah
36:51
who gets kidnapped.
Dave
36:52
Oh, okay.
Sarah
36:52
He is in universe, I think, in middle school now, so And at one point wanted to change his pronouns a couple seasons ago.
Tara
37:00
Oh. Neat.
Sarah
37:02
Yeah, I please do not put him on screen ever. Or do that soap thing where now he's 19 and going
Tara
37:07
Right.
Sarah
37:08
to the police academy.
Dave
37:09
If I know anything about Dick Wolf productions I know they took vr great care with that pronoun storyline.
Tara
37:14
I'm sure
Dave
37:15
Yeah.
Sarah
37:15
Mm-hmm, oh
Tara
37:16
Anyway
Sarah
37:16
yeah
Dave
37:16
What next, dinosaur?
Tara
37:19
I also agree with Sarah. Sarah is right.
Dave
37:24
Okay, great.
Sarah
37:24
Okay.
Dave
37:25
Sorry, that was me farting. I don't know if you heard that on my head pause for a moment to make sure everything came out okay.
Sarah
37:30
All right, doodley
Tara
37:34
All right.
Sarah
37:36
Oh God.
Tara
37:37
Recover.
Dave
37:38
I'm trying.
Sarah
37:40
Are you
Dave
37:41
All right, well, on that note Let's put this to the official shut up. Let's put this to the official tiny no-neck vote. Tar Ariano, what say you for the tiny retcon no-neck?
Tara
37:55
Yay
Dave
37:56
Alright, me too. So Benson throwing Stabler under the bus from Lawn Order SVU.you're hereby inducted into the extra hot crate tiny Retcon Nodak.
Clip
38:10
Americans love a winner. Yeah. And will not tolerate a loser. Nope.
Dave
38:16
It is time to discover who are our not quite winners and not quite losers of the week. I will go first. Not quite winner and number one, Donald Glover. He is writing and starring in what is called PUBG, which is Player Unknowns Battlegrounds. It is one of those battle royale games where a hundred people land on an island and you shoot it out till only one's left. Really weird concept for a movie.
Sarah
38:36
No
Dave
38:39
And yes, I know we've had a Minecraft movie and we had movies about IPs that have no distinct characters, but this really is just 100 people that at absolutely have no personality or backstory that just land on like Russian islands and shoot each other. The other thing is that the game was the first breakout hit of that sort of video game genre, the Battle Royale, but there's been other ones that have completely eclipsed it. Most of uh Fortnite is the one most people know about.
Tara
39:08
Yeah.
Dave
39:08
But this game is dog shit. Like it is a good premise, but it runs like shit. There are cheaters up the wazoo. They've never Secured the game properly. Like there's people running around can shoot you from twelve miles away while looking up in the sky. Like I'm not even joking. That stuff happens. So I just kind of imagine the movie, the only way they could do this movie right is if they have everybody who lands on this island in the universe
Tara
39:32
Show
Dave
39:36
being able to do that kind of thing. Their servers also suck ass, so while you're playing, like your your latency goes up and down to the point where you'll be walking and then you'll freeze. And then when your connection comes back, you're like two hundred meters down the road suddenly and there's like a guy right in front of you with a gun shooting in the face. If they did all those things
Tara
39:55
Mm-hmm.
Dave
39:56
Then perhaps then they will capture the true spirit of PUBG, but weird, weird, weird that a PUBGgame came out before like a Fortnite movie or whatever.
Tara
40:05
Nerd Rage
Dave
40:06
It is Nerd Rage. It is. And not quite Loser of the Week Spaced. That is the Simon Pegg sitcom-ish show from a billion decades ago now
Tara
40:19
From the two thousands, I think, yeah.
Dave
40:20
Which I enjoyed at the time, then we tried to rewatch a couple years ago. I was like, oh boy, this
Tara
40:24
Yep.
Dave
40:24
got so, so dated. But anyways, they're doing a remaster on Blu-ray or something like that, but they're running it through AI first, something that I believe Netflix tried. A couple years ago, was it Netflix?
Tara
40:35
Mm-hmm. See, I think so.
Dave
40:37
It was they did a sitcom. It was like Family Matters or something like that, I think they ran through it
Tara
40:42
Hmm.
Dave
40:42
And it just mangles a lot of things. Like first of all, it like destroys things like focus and all that kind of stuff. But just like there was people's names on office doors and then like when they go through the AI filter because it doesn't know what the fuck letters are You know, it all turns into like make believe Cyrillic lettering, you know, that kind of stuff that happens. So look forward to that on when you're uh watching spaced.
Tara
41:04
Yeah.
Dave
41:04
Just like guys, it's just not there. Like, let's divorce it from everything about burning earth.
Tara
41:07
Yes.
Dave
41:10
AI just doesn't do a good enough job for that kind of thing yet. Especially for something that you're turning into physical media.
Tara
41:17
Yeah
Dave
41:17
Like As a crimes against television, doing it on a streaming service is bad. Doing it so it's now its destination is physical media is super worse because that would become like it's sort of like
Tara
41:26
Mm-hmm.
Sarah
41:27
Oh yeah,
Tara
41:28
That's the record, yeah.
Dave
41:29
Yeah, it's like the uh the official Star Wars remakes and then all the other ones are thrown into the fire and George Lucas is doing his mad dance in front of the The the fireplace is
Tara
41:38
Nerd Rage Part two Anyway, you left out the part where Edgar Wright, who co-created the show, has said he has nothing to do with this remaster and calls it a bummer.
Dave
41:48
Yeah. Sure, and it is
Tara
41:50
So for f For fans, be aware before you buy the DVDs that they're gonna look like shit
Dave
41:56
Yeah, there's no sticker on the uh packaging for that, I'm sure.
Tara
41:56
probably. Nope.
Dave
42:00
All right, Sarah D. Bunting, not quite winner of the week.
Sarah
42:02
My not quite winners are Isabella Merced and Patrick Schwarzenegger. They've been cast as Lorena and John Bobbitt in the next season of Hulu's anthology, Good American Family. Also a winner, me, because I didn't, I think, realize that they were going the anthology route with that series. And uh I think it's smart. And I'm glad that that case is going to be revisited with the benefit of some better hindsight.
Dave
42:28
Is that the one where the guy gets his dick cut off?
Tara
42:30
Yep.
Sarah
42:30
Yes, it is.
Dave
42:31
So
Tara
42:32
Also, not quite
Dave
42:32
his Schwartz.
Sarah
42:33
Mm-hmm.
Tara
42:35
winner, John
Sarah
42:35
She's nagging his shorts.
Dave
42:36
Yeah.
Tara
42:37
Not quite winner, it's John Bobbitt hugely complimented by being having Patrick Schwarzenegger cast to play him.
Sarah
42:43
Yeah.
Dave
42:44
Yeah. Yeah.
Sarah
42:45
Mm-hmm.
Dave
42:46
It's not a tumma.
Sarah
42:46
Yeah, for sure.
Dave
42:49
Okay.
Sarah
42:49
Not anymore, it's not.
Dave
42:50
Nope. Alright, not quite loser of the week.
Sarah
42:52
Not quite loser is two and a half men. Again, some more. Eternally, as Melanie Linsky's just latest after Holland Taylor, as mentioned in one of our podcasts this week, last week.
Tara
43:05
Recently
Sarah
43:05
She's called out the production for paying the actors poorly.
Tara
43:08
,
Sarah
43:09
If Melanie Linsky is mad at you, you're wrong. Apologize.
Tara
43:12
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Sarah
43:13
Fix your heart
Tara
43:14
And if the two stars of your show who are complaining about their treatment are Holland Taylor and Melanie Linsky. Like, think about what you're doing with your career.
Dave
43:24
If you gave me one
Sarah
43:24
Yeah, really.
Dave
43:25

Okay, Lara has six. Andrew has twenty. Eric has twenty-one
Dave
01:08:48
All right, let's get back into it. Big point opportunities here. It is round six, the specialty round. Everybody's just gonna get four questions, two from the very hard friends set, and two from the very hard for some people Star Trek set.
Larra
01:09:05
This uh the Star Trek's questions are a nightmare because it's all weird minutia
Dave
01:09:09
Yep, you betcha.
Eric
01:09:10
Yeah
Dave
01:09:11
Three points per answer. If you manage to get all four, it's a mega twenty-point sweep. Tall order, guys
Larra
01:09:19
Is this the last one?
Dave
01:09:20
This is the last question. Don't forget, we got Tar
Larra
01:09:22
Okay.
Dave
01:09:23
in the wings. Here we go.
Tara
01:09:24
Yeah, you should call on me for one of those
Dave
01:09:27
Star Trek.
Tara
01:09:27
and not the other.
Dave
01:09:30
We're gonna start you off with your two friends' questions, Andrew. Each person is getting questions about particular seasons, so we're gonna go work backwards. This first one is from season 10. Where do Chick and Duck Jr. get stuck? This is worth three points.
Andrew
01:09:47
Well, I will go right to Tara for the the help on this one.
Dave
01:09:50
All right, Andrew needs some help, Tara. Where did those guys get stuck?
Tara
01:09:55
Foosball table.
Dave
01:09:55
Foosball table is good. You just got yourself three points, but now you must answer this season eight or nine question yourself. Phoebe tears up Rachel's gift certificate for a new spa claiming to hate corporate massage chains. What is the real reason though?
Andrew
01:10:14
She's jealous of Rachel's hair.
Dave
01:10:17
Tara, what's the real reason?
Tara
01:10:18
She works there.
Dave
01:10:19
She is actually working there.
Andrew
01:10:21
All right
Dave
01:10:21
Correct. Alright, here comes your Star Trek questions, Andrew. In Charlie X, yeoman Janice Rand tells Charlie her favorite color. What is her favorite color?
Andrew
01:10:34
Um, red
Dave
01:10:36
Close. Pink. It is pink.
Larra
01:10:39
Because she's a girl.
Andrew
01:10:40
All right.
Dave
01:10:41
In the future, they still love pink. All right, here's your second Star Trek question. Who volunteered to test the effects of the tranquilizer created in Spectre of the Gun?
Andrew
01:10:54
The tranquilizer, uh say check off
Dave
01:10:59
Scotty, Scotty is the answer there. Alright, so you picked up three points thanks to Tara. Let's move on to Eric. Your first friend question is about seasons six or seven. Why is Joey reticent about taking a role in a big budget period movie about three Italian brothers?
Eric
01:11:21
Uh, I'll call on Tara
Dave
01:11:22
All right, Tara, what's the answer here?
Eric
01:11:22
for this.
Tara
01:11:24
Because he would have to go full frontal nude, and the character is uncircumcised, but Joey is circumcised.
Dave
01:11:32
That is three points for Steel Mill, Eric, and here comes your series four and five question. What does Chandler send to Joey after upsetting him by saying that he didn't think shutter speed would be his big break? What did he send as an apology?
Eric
01:11:48
A sandwich
Tara
01:11:50
That's a good guess.
Dave
01:11:50
It's a good guest, Tar, what is it?
Tara
01:11:52
Uh balloon bouquet, I think
Dave
01:11:54
Yep, helium balloon bouquet. Alright, here comes your star chart questions, Eric. Are you ready?
Eric
01:12:00
Yes.
Dave
01:12:00

Eric
01:12:19
Spock
Dave
01:12:21
From the Enterprise incident, that was Kirk. Why did Kirk undergo surgery in the Enterprise incident?
Eric
01:12:29
Uh to make him look like a Romulan.
Dave
01:12:31
You are correct, yes, and to steal the cloaking device. How very duplicitous. All right, all right. We've got seasons four and three.
Larra
01:12:39
Mm-hmm.
Dave
01:12:42
Why not? What's the name of Chandler's father's Las Vegas All-Mail burlesque?
Larra
01:12:49
I'm going to ask Tara for help with this.
Dave
01:12:51
Tutara, what do we got?
Tara
01:12:52
Viva Las Gegas
Dave
01:12:54

Larra
01:12:57

Larra
01:13:07
Trains
Tara
01:13:09
That's a good guess.
Dave
01:13:10
Yeah, good guess. You wanted to go vertical instead of horizontal, though. What's the answer?
Tara
01:13:14
Snaps
Dave
01:13:14
Stilts! He just talked about stilts. Alright, your two star trek questions to finish us up. How many times has Spock employed the Vulcan death grip? The Vulcan death grip. I don't know if that's different from the Vulcan pinch grip. Is there mul is there uh degrees of Vulcan pain grips?
Larra
01:13:31
Is it is it like twice?
Dave
01:13:34
Uh according to this, once, and then only as a ruse to deceive the Romulans in guess what?
Eric
01:13:35
What
Dave
01:13:39
The Enterprise incident.
Larra
01:13:41
This this trivia card's favorite episode of Star Trek.
Dave
01:13:44
In a piece of the action, what mechanical device did Kirk utilize for transport on the planet?
Larra
01:13:52
Is a piece of the action like the gangster one?
Dave
01:13:54
Maybe.
Larra
01:13:54

Dave
01:14:03
You are correct, it is a car, yes, three points. Alright, that is regulation, Tara. Please, the scores, the final scores.
Tara
01:14:11
Alrighty, Lara finished with 12, Andrew with 23, but Eric is our winner with 27 points plus two Dave points.
Dave
01:14:22
Yeah, nicely done. Congratulations, Eric!

Clip
01:15:50
Okay, just slowly start moving towards the door. No, no, no, let's stick around. Alright, so they're a little eccentric. This is Extra Hot Great Minis. Today's topic is CMT, a show. Y'all Nice. Uh welcome to another week of Extra Heart Great Minis joining us all this week is Nick Reinwell Jones. Hello, Nick. Hello, Nick As we all know, all of us, everywhere, Nashville has moved from ABC to CMT. As all people are talking about. It really is, according to CMT's press releases that I get emailed. What on the bubble or recently canceled network show do you think could or should be the next to join it there? And how would it change in the move? Sarah D. Bunting, please start us off Um well Sleepy Hollow, uh A is on the bubble and B has um just moved its whole kit and caboodle to Washington, D. C. and started exploring Civil War history, uh including uh in the season premiere, the idea that John Wilkes Booth actually was uh possessed by a demon and sucked Abraham Lincoln's brain out through the base of his neck versus shooting him. Uh why are you laughing when that sounds like history? Uh learn your learn your past, Sarah. Come on. Oh fake biographies. Uh I think there's a lot of material there so I I think that um uh and I've been to the Nashville area and there's a lot of um cool history sites and museums and battlefields that I think Sleepy Hollow could make uh a fair bit of hay with. Nick. Okay, well I chose a perennial favorite of this show that um is also perennially, sadly, on the bubble, playing house. Um, I think it would make the transition quite easily for two reasons. First of all, Bosefus could just become a full-time character. Second of all, um obviously Kenny Loggins, while not being an like overtly country, is definitely country-friendly. So all of the Kenny Loggins stuff would would would, I'm sure, play very well to their audience. And third of all Am I crazy to say that it wouldn't be the worst thing to show the your average CMT audience something that sort of helps to normalize the idea of same-sex couples a little bit? Sure. I'm not a crackpot. And also just today, like they released some Boseepus short or something. Yes, they did. They have a new uh real quote reality show of like w uh of little web videos that they're doing as Jandana and Bosefus, so Yes, I did ar I retweeted that as at Previously TV.um I will go next. Also, we should just say in case anyone's alarmed, Playing House is not on the bubble. Yet. They actually just started production on season three. So it's still it it will be back for at least one more season. I can't imagine USAwould like kill it. But every every year threatens to be its last. For sure. It's the arrested development of today Yes. It should not be. It should it should be more secure. Absolutely right. But in case anyone is worried, it w it is coming back. Do not fret. All right, mine is uh conviction. Which in my imagining departs ABC for CMT in the process relocating from Manhattan to Lexington, Kentucky, and swapping Haley Atwell for Martina McBride. Not as an investigator, but as herself. She may not be great at overturning your wrongful crime conviction, but she does hope you dance , Dave. Uh mine is frequency. That is the talking to a dead dad over the radio show. Sure is. And when they change it to CMT, the dad can only communicate using uh snippets of country songs. So when she asks about her mom, he says, All my exes live in Texas More Dave singing.
