#27: Underground Railroad of Perverts
We flew Weeds producer and friend of the show Stephen Falk in from Los Angeles JUST to see Scream 4 with us and then come on the podcast to talk about it. We then consider the latest phenomenon that may or may not be Worse Than Jazz; ponder the inclusion of the Larry Sanders Show episode “Hank’s Sex Tape” in The Canon; call out the week’s winner and loser; and tear it up in Game Time. Don’t be scared! Everything will probably be fine.
Use the player above or download the podcast directly or play on a non-flash device (iPad, iPhone).

Hey guys!
Love the show. I just have one comment and one suggestion for you, respectively.
Comment: The PDF link to the Mullendash rules is broken! I would’ve loved to try it out with my friends the next time we were sitting around on a Saturday night.
Suggestion: Similar to Mullendash, you should have a page on the site entitled something like “ExtraHotGreat: The Home Game!” and post all the non-audio questions from past Gametimes for people to play at home if they wanted to. I know my friends and I would have a blasty blast testing our pop culture mettle.
Thanks for a great show,
Scott
I think I have a copy of Mullendash somewhere. I’ll kill the link and try to grab it when I get a sec. Thanks for the heads up.
As for the home game, if people want to transcribe all that I’m happy to make a page but I don’t have time to do it myself.
On a related note I have figured out how to do the next Game Time For The Masses so next time we can’t record together I should have something audio-based for everybody to play at home.
Update: Found it! Linked above.
A couple comments re: Chuck, as a fan.
1) The reason you all quit after the second episode is that the second episode sucked. It’s one of the three worst episodes of the entire series.
2) A lot of the complaints about Chuck and Sarah not hooking up immediately in the season after the really borderline renewal was that the writing sucked. Characters without agency are boring, Sarah’s agency was removed. It sucked.
3) The real obsessive Chuck fans are indeed obnoxious, but are not worse than jazz.
4) Come on, at least the buying a sponsor’s product is clever instead of mass mailing in of something tangential. Which is lame.
So other comment: for “mop” would you have accepted UHF? I’m pretty sure the janitor played by Michael Richards does in fact use a mop as a weapon in that movie.
cricket bat = this is spinal tap
Stephen has a great voice.
Shucks!
The answer to your question if there’s a fandom more obnoxious than Chuckdom is an easy one–”Moonlight.” Say ANYTHING bad about that show (even now, YEARS after its cancellation) and hordes of Alex O’Loughlin/”Moonlight” fangirls swarm.
I haven’t listened to the podcast yet because I still want to see Scream 4, so maybe you talked about it, but I can’t stand Firefly fandom. Cannot abide it.
Oh yeah! Another good (bad) one.
Yes, Firefly fans are the worst fans in existence. There isn’t any discussion over at io9.com that doesn’t end up with group lamenting about how Firefly was the greatest show every made, Fox is evil, and how whatever is being discussed isn’t as good as Firefly.
Once I would have said Joss Whedon fans in general but Dollhouse seems to have killed the “Whedon is an infallible genius” stuff.
Oh my god, I loved your whole thing about crazy fans. The very worst are the people who still complain about Fox, which you would think after NBC’s total incompetency would have given people something new to complain about, but no. I love Firefly, but it has been almost 10 years. It is time to move on.
I also love when you said that the girls in Scream 4 aren’t the type to sit around and watch horror movies, because my roommate does look like those girls, and she totally has stayed in Friday nights watching horror movies.
What were everyone’s favorite scary movies? I couldn’t hear anything, except I think Candyman.
I’M NOT THE GIRL YOU CHEAT ON! *ouch*
I must admit to agreeing about Casey Wilson.
What made it worse was the media blitz she was set on given her position as the most prominent of the cast in a comedy context due to her brief SNL stint. She was *trying so hard* in every appearance that it got to be ridiculous. It was as if she were channeling the worst comedy instincts of Molly Shannon, Danny McBride, and every amateur improv guy that ends his scenes with gunplay.
When Craig Ferguson can’t make your interview an less insufferable, you need to stop doing talk shows.
