In the inaugural episode, Dave, Joe, and Tara talk about the most important issues of the day (and some important issues of more than a decade ago): The Social Network, John Hodgman’s new talk show, Hoarders, the week’s winners and losers, and the unintelligible grunts of a very famous person. All this and more awaits you. Hurry up and get listening!
The producer apologizes for: the clips and music being far louder than the talking, some echoing, some clip miscues.
Tara apologizes for: saying Life As We Know It was #1 at the box office. It was not.

Cram it churchy!
Sorry for all the “like”s. Working on it.
Going forward, I will take it easy on the “ultimately”s. Also, two factual corrections:
1. Life As We Know It came in first at the box office among the week’s new releases, but second overall (to The Social Network).
2. I am not single.
Why did #1 disappear from iTunes? What’s happening? Is it The Happenning but with podcasts? Stupid technology.
And now it appears to have returned to the iTunes feed. Hooray.

Snap.
Enjoyed the review of “The Social Network”. Agreed with just about all of it. Two questions though:
1) Although Sorkin kept his recycling of lines, names and dialogue from previous projects to a minimum, I did notice one (partial) recycle with Eduardo’s “‘Cause that’s the way it is in the NFL”, a slight bastardization of Amy Gardner’s “‘Cause that’s they way it is in the NBA” line after Josh got her fired. Any notice any others I missed?
2) So, which one of you wears the mu-mu and smokes Parliaments?
Oops – that should have been “Anyone notice any others I missed?”
Me fail English? Unpossible!
I think the answer to #2 is that if you are on the Internet you are in a mu-mu smoking the Parliaments.
Honest to God I just watched that episode last night.
Oh, Sorkin’s used the “that’s the way it is in the [professional sports league]” line quite a bit. Definitely one of his signifiers.
It makes me wonder how “A Few Good Men” would be received today. I know it was a Best Picture nominee back then, but it never felt all that respected. Everybody who’s reveling in Sorkin’s colorful “Social Network” dialogue should really revisit AFGM’s “fast food, slick-ass, Persial bazaar” gems.
As for Will … what can I say? I was rattled. I initially thought Tara said it was a guy named Jet.
*A* Jet! But no matter, I remembered him. My second-biggest triumph of the episode!
And of course I mean “Persian bazaar” but that’s what I get for writing anything at 8am.
Hooray! I didn’t like “The Social Network” either. It was just a bunch of rich white boys whining about money, so it was hard for me to really care. Also, and I do realize I am the only person on earth to hold this opinion, but I just don’t like Jesse Eisenberg. He bugs me. Not his fault, he’s a good actor, but for some reason I can’t look at him without wanting to roll my eyes.
